Confession of a Casio Watch Addict

Looking backwards to the watches I have owned, most of it are Casio's product. Is it because being Asian, we have accessed to one of the most digital watch manufacturer from Japan? Or am I just a casio-digital-watch-sucker?

I remembered my very first digital watch was similar to this model. This watch got lost during my high school days, no one admitted to have stolen it from me.

After the incident, did not purposely brought a watch myself. Then MaMa-tze brought me a watch in order to train me manage time better. The watch looks some what like this model, analog and digital.
This watch serve me well, until the analog stopped one fine day and were beyond repair. It was a mystery why it stopped. Came along my very first G-Shock G COOL, this is the only watch I fixed many times. Come to think it, most of the time it was broke after my brothers borrow it from me (unless I have selective-memory-lost).
During college days, a bunch of college mates brought me another Casio watch and this model has a vibration alarm. Been using this watch until now, only thing was the EL light has gone dead... but it never fails to vibrate till today.

Later I found myself looking for a serious watch with both digital and analog display. There were some nice G-Shocks but then it was HEAVY in weight and price too. Later I found myself on the cross road between these 2 watches:
1) Casio E-Databank (EBD-501)
*Pictures will be updated later this week

2) Timex Ironman Triathlon Dress Watch

Both were good watches, the Timex have a better steal too and a little heavy on the weight compare to Casio E-Databank (EDB-501). I choose Casio over Timex mainly because it looks younger, and I'm a Casio-犯賤-dude! A year later, Timex IronMan was featured in Stranger than Fiction!

However Richie.L (my casio dude) claims that I made the right choice. This Casio watch only made it to my blog, but not as famous as the Timex. Picture may not be available this time, but will post once I managed to resolved my PC issues.

G-Shocks came out with Lover Collection version of Couple-Watch, you can find out more at JayV's website in Hong Kong on the previous collections. 2008 Lover's Collection will be out from November onwards, design is almost like 2007 Collection but with more of a sleeker look.
The Casio LOV-08A-7DR
The Casio LOV-08B-7DR

Will call my dude to find out the price first, but recently Casio watch prices went up since mid 2008. Wonder if I can still get some discounts?

Hi I am tze, I am a self-confess Casio Addict. I need a sponsor.

Drop Blog: OOP.... Out Of PC

It's been a week without a PC at home, and things are looking bad. I can't get instant information from the internet as it has been my way of life all the time. This sucks big time, but I still need to wait for maintenance to fix the phone line, parts to be replaced and stuffs.

The posting are done in the office at a personal time. Next month is going to be a hectic month at work and with no PC... there will be less to blog.

(*-*) finding things to do to ease the pain away... any suggestions? My reading materials are running low.

Food: Borneo 1945 Museum Kopitiam

When I was in Sabah last year, I stayed Borneo Backpackers lounge. What I like to wake up to every morning was the Kopitiam below. Post war design theme was used to design this unique shop, you can learn a little history things that had happen here in Sabah.

WWII History Timeline above the kitchen

Kopi Botol (Coffee in Bottle) retro packaging using recycle beer bottles

Most people came to have coffee, half boiled eggs and their original charcoal-toast bread with kaya & butter. This was captured when we settle down. You can see there is Chinese chess on the table for their customers to enjoy other than the food & coffee.

there are many old posting around the coffee shop

Here is the retro Menu on a piece of flat wood:

Did I mention their bread are grilled-toasted and the bread is a round loaf ? That is to complete the 40's atmosphere.

Yes, this place do serve one of the best coffee in Borneo town. Recommended to drop by when you are there. In the evening I saw them serving BBQ, maybe it was a special occasion.

Our last visit was rather discomfort as the air condition was out, no matter.. fans were available and it was a rainy season.

I had not purchase new speakers, mainly too busy but lately it was raining cats & dogs almost everyday. Each time it rain 2 times in the afternoon and evening. This time rain came with thunders and hit one of the edges on the roof off. With a loud crash noise, then all powers were cut off. Saw some pieces of the roof on the garden.

OUT goes the PC, Modem and Printer.

Next time it rained, please shower some hard-cash on my roof!

There will be less post after this until I get some replacement parts and also get my roof fixed.

Food: Homemade Spicy Ham Spaghetti with Fries

Why I like cooking? Well you will never know when u need your cooking skills, it is always good to improve my cooking skill. I was from a family of food makers, it is a shame if I really don’t know how to make a few dishes.

Last week I was experimenting in the kitchen after hiking session. I was thinking to make Pasta sauce on mashed potatoes but ended I brought the wrong potatoes. The potatoes then were sliced, mixed with Vinegar & Olive oil and to the oven for 20mins at 200 Degree Celsius.

Campbell Spicy Pasta sauce was cooked with slices of onion, garlic, tomatoes, ham and pork meat. Once cooked, toasted on the pan with spaghetti. There you had it, a 30mins meal.

My recipe:

Movie: Eagle Eye

Got a call from Emelyn, Standard Chartered was giving away 3 passes to the Eagle Eye movie. I wasn't following the movies release lately, but the movie title sure doesn't sound interesting... Eagle Eye

VIP Access? Ok why not, and quick search online for this movie and found these:
Cast: Shia Labeouf, Michelle Monaghan (dang), Rosario Dawson, Micheal Chiklis, Billy Bob Thorton. Director: D.J. Caruso. A movie of Steven Speilberg?

Ok, enjoyable movie as I did not read thru more details on it. Due to this movie comes with a big budget + *cast + S.Speilberg.

Towards the middle of the story when I found out the master plan of the villian, reminds me of Get Smart (2008). The storyline was a little of many movies combine, therefore I later guessed what will be the next thing to come. Waiter Rant explained it better.

"It was like HAL from 2001 and the WOPRfrom WarGames made a baby and we got to watch their love child wreak its inevitable silicon sociopathy upon humankind. Michelle Monaghan was the only reason I could keep my eyes open during the movie."

Malaysian Cinema did not show this movie where the couple smooch on the lips. Honestly, Michelle Monaghan looks like older sister tagging a younger brother on an adventure. That's just me.

Part of the movie scene from RottenTomatoes, the Eagle Eye computer trigger the pictures on the monitor to fool that security guard.

At the end of the movie, I wish there is a message for me whenever I pass by Magnum.

Hiking Days #0007

Being posting loads of food, how do I actually keep my weight to a frozen state? Its been awhile since I last keep post of my hiking days & does not mean I stop hiking. Hiking Days post are not being post each time I go for hiking. Its being more about interesting personal exploration towards hiking... like people peeing at the corner trees and stuff!?

I graduate from hiking in Bkt. Putih from Station 6, Waterfall, 5, 4, 3, 2 and 1. Here is the cert:

Me, Emelyn, Mrs & Mr Gan ( extra models @ rear )

I am still day dreaming for the waterfall, thou the track might be wet during these few days of heavy raining. I was hiking last Friday morning and it was wet, muddy and cold. Can't wait to get my body-aching all over again.

Venue: China Town, Kuala Lumpur

I used to study near towards China Town during my colleague days, I went to this spot in Kuala Lumpur again to do some government paper-works. If you know how to access the alleys of this town, u can reach to anyway within China Town in minutes. I must highlight the process of the Government Dept. I went to was fast, there was not much people and I just spend 10mins there. Thou the people working there don’t serve us RAKYAT with a smile.

Gate of China Town, Kuala Lumpur better known as Petaling Street

I pay my parking tickets for 1 hour, therefore I have time to walk thru China Town and get to eat some of these famous food. Today China Town has been changed as to compare to 8 years ago, many seller there are no longer locals. You can find many sellers from various Asia countries trying to make a living here. If you are coming as a visitor, do beware of your personal belongings. I wouldn’t say it is perfectly safe here thou there are Petrol Police, many things might happen. Beware of the monks and beggars on this street, they are not what they seems to be. I came across the monks change into a handsome bold ass smoking at the alleys, Senior-tze saw a crawling beggar walking to grab a taxi after working hours!

At the centre of a junction, I really can’t decide between what to drinks?

Famous Longan Drink

Uncle Bean Soy Bean Drink

I picked soya bean to clear my rumbling stomach, and where did I had lunch? I am not sure if many of u know this place, the Chinese used to called it Chung Wah alley. If you can find this place, which happens to be the Market of China Town.

Here they sell from fishs, meats to pets! Pets? Those are live pets such as cats, birds and other small animals. After passing this market, you will come to a place where they serve foods. Food such as Yong Tau Fu, Soup Noodles, Pork Noodles, Asam Laksa, Curry Laksa, economy rice and many more.

My lunch:
Chee Cheong Fun Rm1.50
Soya Bean Cold (with dark sugar) Rm1.20
I was on diet Priceless

Today, I can say the China Town is more comfortable to walk as DBKL build a huge roof on the street and also the place is much cleaner as to compare 8 years ago.

Food: HomeMade Sandwich

I don’t have a name for this sandwich but I could name it Island Ham Seaweed Finger sandwich? I like making my meals, it sometimes help relaxes me. It sounds so GAY!? Mainly, I get to enjoy the food as how I like it being made. I don’t like mayonnaise, but every time I tell the waiter… they tend to forgot all about it. I should have some papers from doctor saying I am allergic to mayo.

My ingredients were:
Tomatoes
Thousand Island Sauce
Slice Cheese
Ham
Sea Weed
Sun Flower Seed Bread loaf

Oh! by the way, Malaysia TV will air a short commercial on Kraft Cheese. Mama-tze helped on that commercial, she was the Food Advisor for the sandwiches aired. She made 1 for breakfast one day, it was great. I should blog it next time she made it again.

What sandwich do you like to make?

Seoul Garden BBQ

Last month I visited Seoul Garden BBq with my colleague's for dinner buffet RM38++ (without tax) per head. This is my 1st visit during the Buka-Puasa Promotions, they are located at the old 1-Utama area towards One World Hotel.

The concept of their food is called the Korean Hot-Plate Steamboat. As you can see, the middle is a small steamboat pot which you can choose from herbal soups to spicy kimchi soups.

There are varieties of meats from Lamb, Chicken, Beef, Prawn, Fish, Crab to Squids available to choose for BBQ and already marinated with their own Korean recipes. There are also Yong-Tau-Foo choices of food for you to dip into the hot pot. There are certain ranges of veges too.

Being Korean, they serve Kimchis and Korean-sauce to compensate their food. My experience overall towards the food deserve a good 3/5 as I don't find the vege's serve are very fresh. You can find deserts such as Ais Kacang and Wall's Ice Creams. There are some fruit juices and hot tea for refreshment too.

The customer service is quite good, waiters do give their tender loving care to their dinners. It's a great place if you want to enjoy a long conversation and food at the same time.

Address:
1-Utama, Lot F235, First Floor Promenade (near One World Hotel)

Last weekend my friends and I went to conquer Bukit Putih from Level 6, 5, Waterfall, 4, 3, 2, 1 which took about 4 hours. I'm still day dreaming of that small waterfall with a man-made-tent on the side. Maybe I will go again during my break.

HiTech : Maxis Customer Kiosk

Human-Intelligent-Technology will showcase to you how money is well spend on the solutions to help company's business growth! Let's review on our very wide mobile-phone-line provider Maxis.

Being one of the top communications provider in Malaysia, Maxis have their very own Maxis Centre everywhere for better assist their customers. Somewhat like DEPOSIT-ATM machines available in the banks, Maxis have their own kiosk machine for payment purposes. I don't remember when they have such services available but it has done a great help to reduce the line up at these Maxis Centre.

Then Maxis too came out with a customer service kiosks, if you happen to be a new customer to maxis and while you are waiting for your number to be called. This Kiosks help answer normal Frequent-Ask-Questions, display latest products and promotions. Something to entertain their customers and also promote more of their products.

Like every HiTech, this is a very funny and dumb system. I went to Maxis to open a sub-line for the family-plus-plan, the system asked to choose 3 numbers. I put a tick on the 1st number 012-388XXXX and then the system went back to MAIN MENU. Wow, thinking the service was so fast and wait... how do I know if the system capture the number I wanted?

Then my queue number was called, inform the Service Agent.. and she claims I need to jot down the number myself? WTF? Wonder how much they spend on this system, no print out of the number I wanted?

I was patient, the Service Agent asked me to choose again. This time the number is gone from that list and they were not able to track it back. So I was force to choose another new number.

Over all these application issues, the Service Agent apologize but did not serve me with a smile.

My experience : TULAN

Food: Hao Hiong Klang Bak Kut Teh

This restaurant is located on the junction of the famous Cheras Taman Connaught Pasar Malam every Wednesday night. I went there for supper with my fellow friends and found the place is not very tidy and clean as compare to normal restaurants. The table I sat on had holes on it, but like any Bak Kut Teh Restaurant they serve all sorts of pork-segment in it. The soup paste is sweet and not much of herbal taste to it. This restaurant serve normal veges and some other dishes such as Vinegar Pork, Herbal Chicken, Curry Chicken and more but depends on the demand on day-to-day basis. I went there around 10pm and they were only veges and bak kut teh.

My rating of this restaurant, 2.5/5 as the place is not very clean. The waiter forgot my order, dining tools were not available when food is every served. Average customer service but the food is OK.

Food: Shabu Shabu Restaurant

RM26++ per person (including tax)? At this current Malaysian Economy state I sure said YES and went ahead with 2 lovely ladies. This restaurant make you pay first before you eat, the concept of this restaurant is like a Sushi bar. Everyone get their own individual pot of soup, you can make the soup to be anything depending on the ingredients you load into it.

The customer service is with a SMILE and they do serve dinners first with ready-cooked food such as fried dumplings, snacks and starters while you wait for your food to be cooked. The only thin slices of meat available is pork. Beef, Chicken, Lamb and fishes are cut in small portions.

I made my soup taste like the Chinese ABC Soup with loads of tomatoes, potatoes and onions.

This restaurant does not serve Ice Creams, the cold beverages they serve is ice-cold Slurpee-Like drinks.

Atmosphere in this restaurant is like any other noisy-busy-buffet restaurant. I felt its a great place to have dinner after a busy day at work or a place of gathering. Their clean environment does make a good impression of a Shabu-Shabu dining more comfortable.

Too bad I could not take more pictures as my camera went flat on batteries. I will visit again to this restaurant, but if you need more info here is a link from Food:Malaysian Most Wanted

Personal overall experience of dinning 4/5.

Address:
No. 19, Jalan Puteri 1/6, Bandar Puteri, 47100 Puchong, Selangor. (Same row as Citibank)

Cafe No. 8

Me and Lisa went out to have a drink last weekends. I told her specifically no alcohol outing. We went exploring some new shops in Bukit Jalil, we found a nice quiet Cafe & Pub in this new area. The atmosphere is nice, they serve illy's coffee and some local food. It is a 2-Floor pub, it is best place to be if you want to have a long conversation with friends.

We ordered a Jug of Heineken & Club Sandwich. Price for the sandwich was RM8.88 after the Cafe's No. 8 Slogan. Too bad the lights was not good, have to blame the alcohol for shaky hands too. But it was sure a nice place to hangout for people whom leave about the area.

Cheers Lisa, hope we enjoy this place again when I get my salary.

Blog for Evan

I had a very close friend, whose name is Evan. She happens to be either too smart or too dumb, never in-between. Recently she was hospitalized near my work place, I only found out when I called her to check out her company outing on the weekends.

I was given a room number to hunt her down after work, 226. It leads me to Maternity Ward, "!?" Maternity? This must be serious. But she was only hospitalized for this...

As someone whom always enjoy good food, I was teasing her with my lunch box from Aleef Restaurant.

Evan, sincerely hope you get speedy recovery. Welcome to the gang of special-people.

Casio G-Shock GT-000

This happens to be my 5th Casio Watch but my very 1st G-Shock owned. This watch has been with me since almost 10years and it is still running fine. Thou there are minor bruises here and there, hey this is G-Shock which is not made of MARVEL IRONMAN suit!

This watch was brought from Japan Casio Factory, there is Japanese Characters if I need to save some information in it. The features of this watch:
- Time 12Hours / 24Hours
- Telephone (Shared Storage 100)
- Schedule (Shared Storage 100)
- Vital Stats (Personal Information: Name/Blood Type/Birth/Credit/License.. etc etc Storage 9)
- Alarm (1)
- Stop Watch

I don't think any G-Shocks come with telephone & schedule storage anymore. Both useful but had a hard time selecting characters by pressing 2 buttons.

Bad things happen to this watch over the past 10 years?
-Grey Mode Button faulty / Replace Black Mode Button
-Original Band Buckle was faulty / Replace Normal G-Shock Band (Lighter & easier to wear)

-Authorized G-Shock Shop assistance change the battery for this watch and did not put things back in place which results the watch was drowned when I went swimming in Bukit Jalil Swimming Pool. The shop was closed, I hope they were no longer authorized now.
-1 Month recovery after it was drowned and paid almost RM150 to get it fixed

So far to me this is a fine piece of G-Shock, some people tend to not recognized this as a actual G-Shock watch and had some bad comments on it. But heck, at least mine went to Mt. K.K., London, France, Scotland, H.K., Japan.... (will be more places too)

The time displayed for this watch is until 2039, almost another 30years. So will this watch survive then?

1.5cc Car Review : Honda City

5Honda has a heritage of keeping the badge name of their car globally, this is one of many reasons I admire them. They were able to plan, design, manufacture and sell it in a small range and yet be Japan 2nd powerful car factory.

Honda Malaysia has owned back their production factory & marketing from the locals reason being able to control their history in building cars then, now and future. I wont mention the histories here as that is more towards politic issues (from my point of view). But us being consumer, beware for the 1st batch of manufacture defect as their car now are manufactured locally. I'm not biased, but every S.O.P. handed over to local factory were not followed 100% which is why caused defects happen. That is when you being a consumer, complains must channel to factory directly or the service centers. Most salesman don't bother helping you, Senior-Tze has this experience.

City was market to complete with mostly the Toyota Vios, even the second hand car value is very interesting for these 2 models. Both these models were born from the existing smaller car, 2002 City was mainly adopted from Honda Jazz / Fit as 2003 Vios was from Yaris / Vitz. The name however originally carried from 1982 City Turbo, size of a K-Car and very popular in the 80's. It came with open top versions too.

Existing 2002, 2005 and 2007 are from a same 4th Generation of City heritage and share most parts with the Honda Jazz / Fit. Pictures already been posted like hotcakes from around the globe and Thailand have launch the 5th Generation 2009 Honda City / Aria Fit. Seeing from the line of honda cars, this new model sharing parts with other models such as new 2009 Honda Jazz / Fit, existing Honda Airwave, 2008 Honda Feed and 2007 Honda Civic hatchback. Sharing parts eventually lower down the budget on manufacturing. As what Toyota did for VIOS/Belta, Honda City disguise in a way to make this is complete looks as new built as does not carry forward most parts from Jazz like the 4th Generation.

2009 Honda City 1.5cc SOHC i-Vtec
Malaysia will launch this model by end of this year, booking is open and price range is around RM88~RM98K. Nothing official yet, finger cross. Thailand Honda City does not come with standard CD player! Honda Malaysia is sorting things out for Malaysian market now. Picture can be found at Paul's blog. Honda even plans to sell to Europe! Wonder if there are sport performance package to share the City Hatchback. Diesel 2.3cc Engine?
